The Note Map Panel

The Note Map Panel integrates either a Note Map or a Frequency Map into the Audio Window.  The default color scheme and settings for the Map Panel are set using the NoteMap Panel configuration dialog.

The Note Map Panel supports zooming into any detail of a map, and during audio playback displays an audio cursor which tracks the current position in the music.

The Note Map Panel "Info Tip"

By selecting "Info Tip" from the Map Panel's context menu, a floating window will display the time and the frequency/note corresponding to the current mouse location.  If the context menu option "Show Amplitudes" is checked, the signal amplitude corresponding to the mouse location will also be displayed.

For Frequency Maps, the overhead associated with retrieving the amplitude information may be significant, so that it may be best to leave this option unchecked until after you have zoomed into a region of interest.

Selecting and Zooming the Note Map Panel

Regions of the Note Map panel are selected by pressing the left mouse button, dragging across a rectangular region of interest, and releasing.  The region will be selected and, if AutoZoom is checked in the context menu, the view will zoom into the selected region.

After making a selection, the corresponding time range of the associated Wave Panel will also become selected, the Power Spectrum Analyzer will be invoked with audio samples from the selected range, and the new frequency spectrum will be passed to the Frequency and Piano panels.

The Note Map Panel may be restored to its full (unzoomed) view either by double-clicking on the panel, or by pressed <Escape>.
