PocketCal & Address Book Installation Instructions

    OK - this seems like a lot of work.  It does take some patience, but these installations are generally painless:

• Run this little test app, and if required, install the Microsoft .NET Framework.
• Make certain that your system is using the latest (Version 2.7) Data Access Components.  To determine your current version, you can run this (tiny) MDAC Version Applet, or check the value in your registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess\FullInstallVer. If your version is not 2.7 or greater, install MDAC Version 7.
• To fix a bug in Microsoft's ODBC driver, install the MDAC  Hotfix.
• Install MySQL.
• Install Connector/ODBC 3.51.
• Finally, unzip and install PocketCal and/or Address Book.

On some Windows 98 systems, the ODBC hot-fix to work seems to not work - the known problem persists in spite of the hotfix.  If you find that either application is unable to initialize its database, please let me know.
